Privacy Policy

Scout is a location-scouting companion for film and photography crews. This policy explains what data Scout collects, why, and your choices. We keep it short because Scout collects only what it needs to do its job — and never for advertising or tracking.

What we collect

• Account information — your email address, to create and secure your account. Authentication is handled by our provider, Clerk.
• Content you create — the photos, videos, voice notes, text notes, floorplans, and other reference material you capture or import into a scout.
• Precise location — GPS coordinates recorded when you create a scouting location, to anchor your captures to that place, and to detect when you leave an active location so the app can prompt you. You control this with the standard iOS location permission.
• Compass heading — recorded at location creation to orient captures.

How we use it

Solely to provide the app: to organize your scouting sessions, and to sync your content to your own account so you can reach it across your devices (including a companion Mac). That's it.

What we do not do

• We do not track you across apps or websites.
• We do not sell or share your data with advertisers or data brokers.
• We do not use third-party advertising or analytics SDKs.

Where your data lives

Your content is stored in cloud storage (Cloudflare R2), scoped to your account, so only you can reach it. We rely on two service providers who process data on our behalf:

• Clerk — account authentication.
• Cloudflare — hosting, storage, and backend infrastructure.

Permissions Scout may request

• Camera / Microphone — to capture reference frames and voice notes.
• Photo Library — to import and (optionally) save reference photos.
• Location (including "Always") — to anchor captures to a location and to notify you when you leave an active scouting location, even when the app is in the background. We do not track continuous location or keep a location history.
• Motion — to read compass heading.

Deleting your account and data

You can delete your account at any time from inside the app: Settings → SCITARI account → Delete account. This permanently removes your account and the content associated with it. This action cannot be undone.

Children

Scout is a professional tool and is not directed to children.

We may update this policy; we'll revise the date above when we do.
